As an avid reader and a lover of science fiction, Old Man’s War by John Scalzi was a delightful surprise that exceeded all my expectations. This book was a buddy read with friends and family, and it turned into a shared adventure that we all treasured.

The story of John Perry and his companions, affectionately dubbed the “Old Farts”, is a clinic in character development. (As a seasoned sci-fi reader, I anticipated the third act twist, but this didn’t detract from its impact. In fact, it was a testament to Scalzi’s skill as a writer that even a predictable turn felt fresh and exciting in his hands.)
